Where things stand today
This site is not currently part of any affiliate programme, and no link on it earns a commission. Tools and books get recommended here because they were useful, and that's the only reason.
If that changes
Affiliate links may appear in future — they're a normal way for a blog to cover its costs. When they do:
- Any post containing them carries a visible notice at the top, before the first link, not buried at the bottom.
- The links are marked
rel="sponsored nofollow"so search engines can tell what they are. - This page is updated to name the programmes involved, with whatever exact wording each one requires.
Some programmes mandate a specific sentence rather than a paraphrase. Amazon's Associates programme, for instance, requires the words “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” That sentence is not a statement about this site today — it is recorded here so that it appears, verbatim, on the day this site actually joins. Printing it before then would be the same kind of untruth in the opposite direction.
Why this page isn't the disclosure
A disclosure page on its own doesn't satisfy the FTC, and shouldn't satisfy you either — nobody reads a policy page before clicking a link in a paragraph. The disclosure that counts is the one on the post, visible at the same moment as the link. This page is the background explanation, not a substitute for it.
What it changes for you
Nothing about the price you pay — an affiliate link costs you the same as going direct. And nothing about what gets recommended: a recommendation that depends on a commission isn't a recommendation, it's an advert, and it would make everything else on this site worth less.
